September 28th, 2012 – Carlos Avila’s documentary, “Tales of Masked Men“, will air on PBS with score by The Angel.  The film explores the colorful, fascinating and mysterious world of lucha libre — Mexican wrestling — and it will be the season opener for VOCES ON PBS, Latino Public Broadcasting’s arts and culture series.

Tales of Masked Men introduces three wrestlers, each of whom embodies different aspects of the sport and its traditions. The most revered and famous masked Mexican wrestler of all time is El Santo, who rose to prominence in the ring, eventually becoming an international film and television star whose persona and humanity deeply resonated with Mexicans. Standing just 4’ 5” tall, Mascarita Sagrada is one of the most dynamic and acrobatic wrestlers working in lucha libre today. Classic wrestler, Solar, is in his fourth decade as a luchador. Rising out of a childhood of rural poverty, Solar found an identity and a livelihood in lucha libre.

A call from executive producer, Idris Elba, led to The Angel scoring this fresh take on UK teen horror from first time director, Arjun Rose. Demons Never Die features the cream of the crop of young British talent including Robert Sheehan (Misfits) and  X Factor judge, Tulisa Contostavlos (N-Dubz). Since it’s UK theatrical release, “Everywhere And Nowhere” is now released on DVD. Written and directed by Menhaj Huda, with original score by The Angel, this film follows their previous collaborations; KiDULTHOOD and WEST 10 LDN. Set in London, E+N is a coming of age drama with Ash (James Floyd pictured left) pursuing his dream of becoming a DJ, and his group of friends torn apart by choices relating to their cultural identity.

 

 

TV News

2011 – Showtime is airing “Bedrooms” with original score by The Angel, following the October 19th 2010 closing night  screening at the Bel Air Film Festival, the August 27th East Coast premiere in NYC at ACEFEST where it won the award for Best Feature and the August 20th World Premiere of “Bedrooms“, at the LA Latino Film Festival, where it won an Honorable Mention for the film’s three directors  Youssef Delara, Victor Teran and Michael D. Olmos. “Bedrooms” is about the walls we create in our relationships despite the underlying, often strong connections that bind us together.

 

 

 

 

 

The Angel scored Season 2 of the Jada Pinkett Smith TV show “HawthoRNe”, hired by showrunner and Executive Producer, Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead).
